About SAM 's 2011 Board of Directors

Born in Kansas City MO and educated in Springfield MO, graduating from Southwest MO State University with a degree in Public Relations and Marketing. In 1983 I moved to Key West and achieved my Real Estate license. By 1984 I was working in Tampa for an international commercial photo lab where I met my husband. We have 2 children and have raised them here, on Anna Maria Island for the past 16 years. I was raised to be socially responsible and civic-minded and have passed those qualities on to my children.
My family began coming to Longboat Key and Anna Maria in 1974. These islands have been the only place our family has been able to call home ever since. My husband and I moved here full time in 2000. I am currently a middle school teacher and he is a football scout. We have 3 grandchildren who are 4th generation island worshippers. They are the main reason I became involved with SAM. SAM is a grass roots group monitoring a multitude of issues that have an impact on our island communities. Those communities – human and other – are what I am devoted to preserving for my grandchildren and for theirs.

"I was born and raised in Tampa Florida. My husband and I, along with our family, opened and operated a Resort in Bradenton Beach. I am a former Mayor of Bradenton Beach and became a Beach Activist. I have always been passionately involved in Anna Maria Island. My affiliations were with: I.T.P.O., M.P.O., Florida League of Cities, Coalition of Elected Officials, Florida Beaches and Shores Preservation Association and many others. I was a founding member of SAM. I was awarded Citizen of the Year, and Small Business of the Year awards. The Island has been good for me. Simply put, my heart has always been with Anna Maria."
